To feel great in your lingerie, you need to measure yourself correctly!
The comfort of your lingerie depends on its manufacturing quality and the materials used, but you also need to choose the right size. For optimal comfort, it must not be too big or too small. So, how do you find the right size for your knickers, briefs, shorties, tanga or G-string? Here are a few tips to help you find the perfect fit when buying lingerie bottoms.
Your hip measurement, also known as hip circumference, is a more reliable indicator than a waist measurement when choosing your lingerie bottoms. When you take your hip measurement, you measure the horizontal circumference at the top of the thighs and the fullest point of the buttocks. In other words, the "biggest" part of your body beneath your waist. Whereas the waist measurement is the circumference of the narrowest part of your waist.
To do this, you will need a tape measure. Stand up straight, feet parallel. Place the tape measure flat at the widest part of your hips, generally at buttock height, as "horizontally" as possible. There is no need to pull the tape measure tight , as it must not be too tight or too loose. For a more precise measurement, ask someone to help you and avoid measuring over trousers. Place the tape measure directly onto your skin or underwear.
If you don't have a tape measure, you can use a piece of string. To do this, place the end of the string at a measurement point, under your navel for example. Run the string around your hips until you meet the end and then mark the point of contact by pinching the string. Line the string up with a regular ruler as far as the point of contact in order to find out your hip measurement in cm.
Despite our advice, are you unsure what size to pick? Our lingerie bottoms are true to size, but if in doubt, choose a size bigger than your normal lingerie bottoms size. This way, you won't run the risk of your lingerie bottoms being too small and uncomfortably tight.
Already know your lingerie bottoms measurement? Perfect! But do you know what type of underwear suits you best? G-string, tanga, knickers, briefs, shorties. Find out which style best suits your body type by referring to our lingerie bottoms shape guide.
